Eyes of the World Foundation

The Foundation Eyes of the World is a non-profit organization helping people with visual disabilities and scarce economic resources in developing countries, providing them with quality eye care through local health services. The Foundation started in 2001 with an eye health program in the Saharawi refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria. In 2002, the Mozambique programme was initiated with a special focus on training in ophthalmology and its sub-specialties at the Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), as well as providing eye care and training health personnel in Inhambane Province. All activities are undertaken in close partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Provincial Directorate of Health in Inhambane.
